Silica gel is an extremely soluble, granular shape of silica made synthetically from sodium silicate. Silica gel is a solid, considering its name. It is a granular or beaded type of naturally occurring mineral that has been refined and extracted. It has a good affinity for moisture molecules as a desiccant.
The crystals are white and translucent. The particles become milky after absorbing moisture. The moisture absorption potential of white silica gel is higher than that of indicating colour silica gel.
Silica Gel Blue (Indicating Type)
Silica Gel (Blue) is a semi-transparent glassy granule containing Cobalt Chloride as an indicator form. The granules are dark blue in colour when they are dry. The granules eventually become light blue and then pink as they absorb moisture. It's a hint that the gel has to be changed. Indicating Silica Gel, Self Indicating Silica Gel, and Blue Desiccants are both names for blue silica gel.
Silicagel is sold in bulk as well as 1 gm, 2 gm, and 5 gm sachets/pouches.
